Getting Started

Meshtastic is a platform for short range LoRa networks. These networks use low power radio devices to send messages and telemetry over radio bands which don't require a license.
First Steps
- Select a supported hardware device and Download a client for your operating system (iOS/Android/PC all supported.)
- Hardware
- Client Meshtastic Getting Started Link I would also personally recommend a better antenna than the stock ones included with the device. Make sure it is one designed for the radio band for your region.
- Better Antenna
- Connect to your device and follow initial setup. Setup Guide
- (Optional) MQTT Connect Setup

- LilyGo T-Echo - ~75 USD, All in One
-

- iOS - Mobile application. Java based, Fiddly but powerful
- Android - Desktop application. Electron based, can be self hosted on a webserver
- Web - Terminal interface, comfortability with Linux required

-
Server
- THere is no server requirement, you and your correspondents will only need to have matching settings with regards to region/channel/encryption. And being in radio range.
- MQTT - If you want to use the Internet to bridge gaps in your radio coverage/reach, then you can use MQTT.
